Dinner Parties: "I don't need help"
the most ancient way OF BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER
One of my favorite things is finding out what an idiot I am...like saying the words "I've got this" to my friend and finding out two hours later, salmon raw, table unset, wine opener missing that "I don't got this..."
Some of the things I did get right were:
- THE BREAD: If one can deliver homemade bread at a dinner party they win, even if everyone is gluten-intolerant. I stole the recipe from my friend Molly at Almost Makes Perfect, but Molly asked me everything I knew about bread, copied me, and then did the work to actually get a recipe right...
- THE BEURRE BLANC SAUCE: Aka Salmon saver because butter + wine = Jesus.
- PLACE CARDS: Because this was a women's dinner, I asked everyone attending for their favorite NFL Quarterback and where they grew up and a hobby.
